The nozzle insert is either clogged, missing, or installed with the wrong part. Rotor heads have replaceable nozzles that set the arc and radius — if the nozzle fell out or was removed during servicing, the head will just spray straight up. We replace the nozzle with the correct insert for that zone's coverage requirement.
Yes — that means the wiper seal inside the head body has failed and isn't retracting the riser. A head that stays up gets hit by lawn equipment and eventually breaks the riser or cracks the body. We replace the head body, which is a quick fix.
