Before the first hard frost — typically mid-October to early November depending on your location. The safe rule is to have it done before overnight temperatures consistently drop below 32°F. We schedule tightly during the fall window, so booking early is recommended.
A single air pass evacuates the main line volume, but heads at the far end of a zone or at low points may retain water. Multiple short passes with time between them allow remaining water to migrate toward the heads and get expelled. Skipping this step leaves pockets of water that freeze and crack the pipe or head body.
